HOBY World Leadership Congress

HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) is an international organization based in USA that has been providing young people with the opportunities to identify and expand their own leadership potential, for the past 54 years.

The HOBY World Leadership Congress is a week-long program that empowers students from around the world to embrace their personal leadership potential.The curriculum is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership Development. HOBY takes students on a journey that explores personal leadership, group leadership, leadership for society, and global leadership, empowering students to make a positive impact on the world.

For eight days, youth participants engage in  leadership and team building exercises, participate in hands-on community service projects and learn from and speak to world class leaders in business, philanthropy, politics, entertainment, the media and more  - all in a cross-cultural setting.  HOBY alumni become the next generation of compassionate leaders, entrepreneurs and humanitarians addressing the needs of their communities.

The World Leadership Congress:

  • Teaches students to think critically about the issues facing the world today and take action to make positive change;
  • Empowers students to discover their own leadership style and further develop their leadership skills;
  • Teaches the importance of giving back to their communities and service to others;
  • Challenges students to commit to giving 250 hours of service to their communities in the year following the program;
  • Teaches students that by working together they can overcome the challenges they will face as the next generation of global leaders.

HOBY works hard to make sure each and every student has a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience at the WLC, as well as an amazing educational experience that will develop their leadership competency while building confidence and a passion for service.
